Introduce yourself and your role at EEZZ

My name is Mark van Weelden, and I am 19 years old. I was born in Utrecht and grew up in Zeeland. In the summer of 2023, I moved to South Limburg with my mother. There, I started the Facility Management program because I wasn’t yet sure what I wanted to do, and the broad scope of the program felt like the right fit.

During the last two years of my studies, I completed two internships at EEZZ. Since EEZZ didn’t have a dedicated facility department, I was able to observe and assist in many different areas, which helped me discover how the company operates.

When I first joined EEZZ, the company rented out around 185 accommodations. Within a year, this number grew to about 650. It quickly became clear that preparing all these accommodations for the website was a major task. Previously, everyone contributed a little to this process, but due to the rapid growth, it became evident that the work would be more efficient and accurate if one person took full responsibility — reducing the risk of errors.

At the end of my internship, I was offered a position as an Onboarding Specialist. I gladly accepted, as I wanted to continue working at EEZZ and was excited to grow alongside the company.

What do you enjoy most about working at EEZZ?

What I look forward to most is discovering how everything within EEZZ works — how the systems operate, how new partnerships are formed, and what goes into that process. And of course, the company’s growth: the challenges and variety that come with it seem both fun and educational to me.

Do you have a favourite motto or life philosophy?

My motto is: choose what gives you energy. I try to apply this in every part of my life. Whether it’s work, studies, or personal projects, I’ve noticed that I perform best and enjoy myself most when I focus on things that truly energise me. For me, it’s all about consciously choosing what motivates you — it helps you work with enthusiasm and focus, and it makes life a lot more enjoyable.
